Fly Her And Keep Her

Quick, fetch the broom! I'm beginning to fall apart. I fear I might end up everywhere. It's starting. Yes, I think it's about to start So please fetch the broom from somewhere. And while I'm waiting for that first piece to fall I bite my lip and hope it won't shatter I know you know it's not like me at all But sometimes I'm porcelain inside here I meant it when I said we'd better find the dustpan I'm tumbling down piece by piece My shoulder blades are running so very fast away They're jumping ship. They know it's hopeless. And soon all of me will be lying there Down on the hardwood But I don't want anyone to see So please fetch the broom if you could.

Drink Up 04:12
No fairytale fantasy No pillowcase veil for me No starry eyes No pale moonlight Just a slow romantic romanticizing you Just a shallow dreamer drowning in you. We're captive in the wood It's dark and haunted and filled with wolves We call them each by name They come to us safe and tame Pull me out Put me out Pull me out One drink will do me in. Drink up.

Airborne 05:05
Do you want to go for a ride? Hop in the front seat and I'll drive. I'll really step on the gas So if we hit a pothole we won't just crash, We'll go soaring through the air, Maybe spin a few times, But haven't you always wanted to be airborne? Do you want to go for a swim? The water's freezing but let's jump in. They'll find us up to our ears Stiff from the cold but shaking with fear. They'll send a helicopter team - One by one pull our bodies out of that icy stream We'll go soaring through the air, Maybe spin a few times, But haven't you always wanted to be airborne? Haven't you always wanted to be airborne? Do you want to go for a ride? Hop in the front seat and I'll gladly drive.

I'll give you a kite You can fly her, but keep her Red and white Pull her string tighter She'll slip away Promise you'll keep her A muted gray The sky around her turns silver We watch as love dies. Does only foolish love die? You're miles below And she's begging you keep her But take her slow You're paralyzed by her For if a kite, you can fly her and keep her But if a bird, then mourn. You're going to lose her. We watch as love dies. Does only foolish love die? We watch as dreams die. Do only foolish dreams die?

about

"Fly Her And Keep Her" was recorded at Grand Street Recording, Treefort Studios, and various living rooms in Brooklyn. Engineered by Tomek Miernowski, Sara Curtin, and Jeff Curtin. Mastered by Tomek Miernowski at Grand Street Recording.

All the songs were written from 2008-2010 while I was living in a tiny room one block off Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. I was working as a fishmonger and a waitress to make ends meet. I got my heart broken. A couple times.
